Yes! Thank you! Exactly this. I used to be staunchly liberal, but after leaving the US I found that both liberal and conservative, white and black, male and female are two sides of the same oppressed coin. As long as they're fighting for a slice of the status quo pie, nothing improves for anyone. As long as men are called patriarchs and whites are called racists, they have no choice but to seek solace in political parties that work against their own interests. If you were out of work in a West Virginia coal town hearing glowing (fictional) stories of hope from one politician and called deplorables by the other, what would you choose?
You're right. We're all humans at the end of the day and virtually the same. We need more realistic humanity in our discussions and less rhetoric.
