Why not argue there is an element of ageism? If a young person objects to a term based on their new interpretation, shouldn't they be equally chastised for not adresssing their elders as "dude" and "babe"? Other languages, like Korean, expect their speakers to go to great lengths to account for age differences in speaking. With language moving so fast, why can't we expect the same?
