When National Geographic started the world was a variagated place. But now... when I traveled for work it always struck me how much all the cities looked the same. Shanghai could be Sacramento. In Dubai they used to ride camels, now it's Bugattis. In Indonesia there were indigenous people, now there are loggers. It's not interesting to read about the umpteenth person who walked to a pole or the crowds summitting Mount Everest. The world NG covered is gone, and so goes the magazine.
