"We shouldn’t have to wait..." Ah, but you must wait. The ships you're talking about don't exist yet. The battery power is not there for electric ships to make trans-oceanic voyages (the Yara Birkeland was the first electric ship in service in 2020, for short voyages only). Skysails are supplementary but not a replacement for fossil fuels. Most ships already do reduce their speed to a minimum to save on fuel - for economic reasons - because it is a no-brainer. The children seem to lack an answer on how Amazon will achieve their target. That's no surprise.

There are an estimated 55,000 merchant ships crossing the oceans. A merchant ship takes 3 years to build at a cost of around $100m each. To reach 100% zero emissions by 2030 is achievable if the schoolchildren are willing to pony up the $5.5 trillion dollars required, or get an advance on the next 187 years of Amazon's profits. Perhaps the schoolchildren can have a bake sale?

Amazon may be a major player, but shouldn't these schoolchildren be schooling the ship builders? I suppose it's easier to point to a single corporation instead. That's how we'll conquer climate change - by doing what is easy, like holding a major corporation accountable for what a separate industry does. Put pressure on the people who can put pressure on the people who are already aware of the issue. It's good that children can see the obvious truth.
