True, but it overlooks the fact that population consistently outpaces food production. Britain now imports 50% of its food, as do most of the wealthy nations. China relies on food from all over the world. And the reduction in births is as much a sign of overpopulation as it is a result of antibiotics (not choice). So, Malthus was right, and knowing he was right is what still drives technological innovation today.
