This is so true. Luckily, I figured this out long ago. We get a 30 minute lunch, but I make sure to take an hour. When someone asks if I read an email they sent outside if work hours, I say "no". When they ask me to work on weekends I say I have made other plans. I've never been fired or laid off for this behaviourr. Why? Because being assertive and setting boundaries, and the calm that results, is what makes me a better and more engaged worker than my peers.
