The frequent use of the word in popular media invites repetition. Songs are meant to be catchy; listeners are expected to sing along. Celebrities know perfectly well that their followers will emulate their language and mannerisms. To think otherwise is unrealistic.
If the word still cuts so deep, why is anyone allowed to use it? There is no justification for a double standard. To use it at all is to perpetuate the pain, and those who are offended have only offended themselves.
