The difference is that wartime gives a sense of solidarity and purpose. Covid did the opposite. Reading up on WWII, many people remember the bombings as the best years of their lives - people in the cities tested higher on mental health than people in the country who weren't bombed. This Covid experience is the exact opposite, which is why the trauma will remain for so long.
