Maybe ditch the salad analogy, though. It's more like she makes amazing ribs and then says, "You only want ribs? Why do you want ribs three times a day, every day?" They forget that men can only eat at one restaurant. If it's not serving every meal, he starves a little more each day.
What's more, a man's legitimacy hinges on getting sex. If she's not serving, he feels less valued. Like a restaurant customer turned away at the door - meal after meal after meal - when he has nowhere else to go.
