No, the internet does not cause climate change or emissions. That responsibility lies full on fossil fuels and energy producers. Do not confuse Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Anyone buying carbon offsets on Scope 2 emissions essentially subsidizes and perpetuates power plants and fossil fuel suppliers. Keep responsibiltiy where it belongs. Tick the box on your energy bill requesting renewable energy sources and go about your day. Remember, once we get a sustainable energy infrastructure, we can use all the energy we want.
