It's a bit much to call it greenwashing. If there were an opposite word ("greenwishing"?), then articles like this that expect more from others would be one.
EVs solve exactly one problem - removing petrol from cars. That's it! Using EVs as a barometer for overall carbon footprints is greenwishing.
Also, you're overlooking the benefit the wealthy bring. New technology development is inherently expensive. The rest of us (late adopters) rely on early adopters to pay a higher price point, allowing technology to mature. When price points come down enough for EVs to mainstream, we have wealthy people to thank for it. If it weren't for their pocketbooks, we'd be driving ICE until the oil runs out.
