It sounds like you're filling in the spaces so he doesn't have to. Trying pausing, long silence, look away. If he's interested he'll jump in with a question.
On the plus side, asking people about themselves is a great way to get people to like you. Everyone loves themselves a little, so hearing their own voice for an hour feels good. I use this at interviews (ask questions only) and I always get an offer.
But if you want to talk about you, just launch into it. He might that, too, and you'll enjoy the date more in your own echo chamber. It works both ways.
