It is "an incredibly problematic and naive point of view" when others don't recognize that pedophiles don't choose to be pedophiles any more than gay men choose to be gay or straight women choose to be straight. They have to live their lives fully aware of the danger they pose to others, forever unable to satisfy the cravings the rest of us take for granted.
The Kevin Bacon film "The Woodsman" portrays this perfectly.
As we begin to understand human sexuality, we must learn to mitigate the harm we do no matter what our predelictions, just as we learn to help others cope with their own.
