I love the idea that Trump supporters accept being lied to as long as they get what they want. I never heard anyone say that before, and it sounds about right.
I disagree that the Democrats are any better. Fourth wave feminism, the rise of "racism", the cancelling of anyone who steps out of line, the painting of Trump supporters as "deplorables", and, above all, the blindness that any of that could be a bad thing, show that Democrats also have very low trust in their fellow humans.
