I hear you. I think it stems from a holistic view of what humans could be, on a good day, rather than what humans are, on a normal day, much less a bad day. We hold ourselves and others up against a high bar, one so high maybe no one has ever cleared it fully. Would we be happier with lower expectations, or is that even worse?
