Holy shit! You're right. Why didn't I see it this way before? Jevons paradox. Replacement is actually reduction. As we ramp up our renewables, that frees coal and oil to concentrate in areas it is nost efficient (cheap). As the price is kept down, use will remain high. In effect, oil has peaked, so all our renewables are making the energy for growth. Our co2 production may not decrease sunstantially but plateau as we become ever reliant on renewables to pick up the slack, if they can keep up. A prosperous, clean energy world with no reduction in climate change. We are so screwed.
