Hi Andrea,
I understand you are frightened about the climate crisis, that you feel no sense of control, and that you try to exert control with your personal sacrifices like flying. Please understand that the system is so comprehensively fossil fueled, there is literally nothing you can't touch, eat, or do that doesn't have a carbon footprint. You and your friends face near infinite choices to navigate through this crisis.
While it's clear which choices you're willing to make, it isn't fair to your friends to force those choices on them. I'm sure you wouldn't enjoy the more extreme ones questioning your choices, such as the footprint of writing on Medium or the choice to stop teaching children in favor of regurgitating tired climate aphorisms online.
Don't risk losing your friends from your own fear. The devastating effects of climate change will be hard enough without the support of your friends, friends who clearly care deeply about these issues, some even more deeply than you. Please be more supportive of others. This is not easy for anyone, and will take cooperation to survive.
